Velo Wines
Velo Wines Vineyard & Cellar Door is a significant part of the tourist landscape of the Tamar Valley Wine Route, located only 15 mins from Launceston.
The vineyard was purchased during the mid-20th century by the Curtis family and one of our wine pioneers, Michael Curtis who established a small hobby vineyard in the 1960’s. In 1966 Michael was joined by Tasmanian wine industry icon Graham Wiltshire. Together they planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Shiraz making these vines some of the oldest in Tasmania, a fact not lost on people with wine knowledge who understand the importance and influence of vine age on grape quality.
New owners purchased the Vineyard, Cellar Door and restaurant in 2017 and guided by the expertise of Rod Thorpe (previous owner of Moores Hill), a new Cellar Door was built, new vines planted to diversify our portfolio and renowned local Chef Matt Adams showcases his culinary skills in his award-winning restaurant, Timbre. The future at Velo is exciting.
The Velo Wines portfolio is extensive with something for everyone.
