Grey Sands Vineyard
Looking for more than Pinot Noir & Chardonnay?...come & taste many other varieties...We currently have 15 different varieties (in addition to P Noir & Chardonnay!) with a further 8 varieties at different stages in the ground...so eventually 25 different varieties.
After living & working in the UK & being exposed to European wines, Bob loves 'blends'...we currently have 2 red blends & 1 white blend with many of the coming varieties intended for more blends, as well as 5 -6 varietals, depending on the vintage.
Planting commenced in 1988 into the nursery. Without irrigation we can’t plant cuttings so they stay in the nursery to develop roots, then into the vineyard.
Our vineyard is entirely 'close planted' (8800 vines/Ha), unirrigated, hand tended & picked. Our aim is to have maximum concentration of flavours in the fruit rather than maximum yield. We know our wines take time to mature in bottle...so we don't release our wines until we think they are ready to give you a pleasurable tasting experience, but they all have a minimum of 6-8 years of cellaring potential at time of release.
